Your edits transfer back to every original object automatically. The combined mesh is removed. Nothing was ever joined.

Shape Key Preservation Positional edits during sculpt sessions apply to the shape key basis (Reference Key), keeping all relative offsets from corrective shapes, facial blendshapes, and pose-driven morphs intact. Shape keys do not need to be removed before working.
Full Attribute Transfer Vertex colors, UV maps, custom mesh attributes, and color attributes copy into the working mesh and transfer back per-object after the session. Attribute domain conflicts between objects are skipped safely with console warnings.
